Updated Lexus RC F breaks cover

-

Lexus has unveiled an updated version of its RCF coupe and announced an even-more track focused option for the keenest drivers.

Externally, the RC F gets new headlights and taillights along with a revised grille and reshaped rear bumper, while there have been bigger changes under the surface.

Lexussaythatahostofaerodynamic and suspension improvements as well as a reduced weight bring new levels of performance to the sports coupe.

Key to the changes has been a weight loss programme that has seen the wider use of aluminium in suspension components, lighter engine and drive components and even a smaller air con compressor.

At the heart of the RC F lies a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8. Revised for the 2019 model year, it nowproduces451bhpand384lb/ft and,pairedtoaneight-speedautomaticgetsthecarto62mphinjust 4.5secondsthankstoanautomated launch control system.

For those looking for an even more focused offering, the RC F Track Edition is a limited-run model developed with input from Lexus Super GT and IMSA racing series.

The Track Edition has undergoneevenmoreradicalweightsaving, withtheuseofcarbonfibrefor the roof, bonnet and rear bulkhead. The standard exhaust has been replaced with a lightweight titanium system and Brembo carbon ceramic brakes and forged 19-inch alloys help cut even more weight from the model.

Production of the new RC F and RC F Track Edition will begin in March this year, with pricing to be announced nearer the cars going on sale.
