Snow White panto is right for all ages

- Phil Hewitt Group arts editor

Snow White will be the Barns Green Players pantomime in the coming weeks.

Spokesman Nigel Currie said: “Beautiful but evil Queen Maligna has usurped the throne of Sylvania on her husband’s death. Told by the magic mirror that her stepdaughter, Princess Millie (known to her friends as Snow White), is more beautiful than her, Maligna is consumed with jealousy and determines to kill her.

Will Snow White’s seven friends and the dashing Prince Michael be able to save her? All will be revealed...

“Yes, it’s panto time again! And this year it is Snow White. Everyone has been very busy rehearsing for the show and it’s not long to go now until we get started.

“There will be a total of six shows performed over two weekends in the Barns Green Village Hall. The shows are on Friday, January 18 (evening), Saturday 19 (afternoon and evening), Friday 25 (evening) and Saturday 26 (afternoon and evening).”

Director Warren Blanchard said: “I am so pleased with the cast that we have for this year’s Panto and we are all determined to put on a great show for you. Snow White is one of the traditional pantomimes but there are plenty of new twists and we have lots of singing, dancing and jokes.

“All we need is for lots of people to come along to shout and scream as loud as you can. I love the interaction that we have with our pantomime audiences and I’m sure this year will be better than ever.

“The shows are aimed at all ages although the afternoon performances are particularly suitable for the very youngest children.

“There are singalongs and sweets for the kids and opportunities for the audience to join in with the fun. There is a licensed bar serving a variety of alcoholic and soft drinks as well as sweets. The afternoon performances begin at 2pm and evening performances at 7.30pm.

“If you are regulars at the Barns Green Players Panto you will know just what a terrific show they put on and if you haven’t been before you are in for a real treat.

“Tickets cost just £12 for adults and £8 for children. There is a special price of just £8 for all tickets on Friday, January 18. We look forward to welcoming you for some great fun and entertainment.

Tickets are available from the box office on 01403 731566 or through the website www. barnsgreenplayers.co.uk.
