With a change in the cabinet and on the opposition front bench perhaps even free movement could be restored.

In the meantime we should retain and build on all those long establishe­d links with schools and communitie­s and personal friendship­s across the channel. Think of Chichester’s twinning with Ravenna and Chartres. Think of North Mundham’s twinning with La Lucerne - d’Outremer. Europe is so much more than a political and trading block.
