Amelia out to emulate England’s top golfer
Everyone needs to have a goal, and Horsham’s 11-year-old Amelia Mcginty wants to follow in the footsteps of England’s No 1 LPGA golfer, Georgia Hall.
Amelia has her sights set high, and was most-recently inspired by Emma Raducanu’s with US Open tennis title.
Amelia has been playing golf for just three years, competing in both the British Junior Golf Tour and the European Junior Golf Tour for just two seasons.
This year alone she has reduced her handicap to 18, and is rated by the World Handicap System as being in the top 18 per cent of players in England.
Amelia has won many events in the last couple of years in her age category. This season she’s qualified to represent the UK in the World Stars of Junior Golf Championship in Las Vegas next June.
The World Stars of Junior Golf Championship has become one of the premier junior golf championships in the world.
This event has attracted over 2,000 players from 50 countries, due to the strength of the field, quality of courses and it’s Las Vegas location.
Only days ago at Cambridge Country Club, Amelia played in the IMG World Championship Qualifier, where she shot 90 gross.
This saw her qualify for the World final in California next July. Amelia will go in to the competition as a favourite, with the chance of becoming IMG World Champion.
Amelia is also seeking sponsorship to help her on her dream path. If you can help her please email tanjoy@hotmail.co.uk the Veteran Masters Tournament, please visit https:// www.worthinghockey.co.uk/aboutus/125th-year-veterans-tournament27-to-29th-august-2021/
