Hundreds of eggs repeatedly being stolen from a West Sussex farmandsheephitbycarsonthe A27 were among the latest rural incidents reported by police.

October4
-Overnightabenchseatworth £800wasstolenfrompremisesin the Horsham area.
October 5
- A GPS system was stolen from a tractor in Marches Road, Kingsfold, Horsham. Valued at £2,000.
- The workshop to a farm in Selsfield Road, Ardingly, was broken into and various items stolen,including:Stihlstrimmer with chainsaw and hedge trimmer attachments, valued at about £750; Husqvarna 14ins chainsaw, valued at about £160; Husqvarna leaf blower, valued at about£200;andaHyundaiAuger HYEA5200 earth auger, borer and drill, valued at about £250.

-Abrandnewjetwash,valued at£700, wasstolenfrompremises in Brighton Road, Hassocks.

-AfarmerintheBognorRegis area has been experiencing problems with intruders forcefully entering his farm and stealing between 60-70 dozen eggsatatime.Onthelastoccasion the intruder dropped a personal possession.
- Several reports came in about what was described as a flock of sheep loose on the A27. Several sheep were hit by cars and many more were seriously injured and/or killed when an HGV ran into them.
The newsletter warned: “Farmers, please be reminded that is their responsibility to ensure that their livestock does not escape onto the highway.”

- The 12th century Grade 1 listed church of St Mary’s in Yapton was forcefully entered and various items stolen.
- West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service attended a major fire in a field close to junction 10 of the M23 near Crawley. Air Traffic Control at Gatwick was alerted.

- A 6ft x 4ft trailer used to move manure was stolen from premises in Fernhurst. Valued at £150.
