Antiques and coffee combine in new venture

-

Antiques shopping and coffee break snacking have been combined in Arundel thanks to the opening of a new venture.

Arondelle, brainchild of Gail Marsh and Joanna Murray, is a newly opened antiques and coffee shop.

Situated in High Street, Ms Marsh said the welcome has been fantastic: “We’ve been greeted by all the other shops so beautifully.

“She [Joanna] has been doing coffee, and earlier this year she just phoned me up and said ‘how about doing a collaboration, I’ve found the ideal place. It was a nobrainer.”

Within three days they had rented the site and the Arondelle process had begun.

The welcoming and animated duo add to the already ebullient atmosphere of the shop, which has seating at the rear and the antique shop at the front.

The room is bright and airy with tall ceilings and has original floorboards and cornices, which had been covered up by the previous tenant, an estate agents.

“People love the fact it is both [a coffee shop and antiques shop],” Ms Marsh said.

Ms Marsh, who previously joint-owned an antique shop in Burly, in the New Forest, said the antiques have been selling very well.

Ms Murray also has plenty of experience, having setting up the Cappuccini coffee shops and writing a book entitled Confessions of a Barista on Platform 1.

Arondelle is open 9am -4.30pm every day.
