Latest report on rural crime released

A vandalised JCB digger and a stolen tractor were among the latest reported rural crimes in West Sussex.

The latest Sussex Country Watch Newsletter, covering the period October 11 to October 24. The newsletter is published on behalf of Sussex Police. The West Sussex incidents were as follows:

October 15

-A Transit van that was stolen in Mid Sussex area was located in Crawley Down minus its tool content valued at over £1,000. The reason it was recovered so quickly was thatitwasf­ittedwitha­tracker.

October 16

- A Farm in Old Park Lane, Chichester, was entered and a red manual pump with a black handle, worth £80, was stolen.

October 19

- A JCB digger parked in a barn in Bepton had its rear window smashed.

-WestSussex­Fire&Rescue Service attended a major barn fire in Billingshu­rst.

- A tractor parked in a playing field in the Crawley area was stolen – the make, model and value were unknown at the time of the newsletter’s publicatio­n.

October 20

- A building site on the Findon bypass has been entered and a barn was forcefully entered and various tools (all Dewalt) stolen. The tools were valued at £3,000

- An unsuccessf­ul attempt was made to steal equipment from premises in Kings Hill, Haywards Heath.

October 21

-Overnight a tractor and a hedge trimmer were stolen from storage barns in Lodsworth. They were valued at £5,500.
