Details revealed for The Hundred return
Some love it, others blame many of English cricket’s ills on it – but The Hundred is back in 2022.
And the defending champions will be the first men’s and women’s sides back into action as the competition returns this summer.
Inaugural men’s winners Southern Brave, who included numerous Sussex players, will welcome Welsh Fire to the Ageas Bowl on Wednesday, August 3 for the first match of the action-packed competition.
The Hundred is a key part of an incredibly exciting summer for the women’s game, with women’s cricket featuring in the Commonwealth Games for the very first time.
As a result, The Hundred women’s competition will get under way after the conclusion of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, on Thursday, August 11.
Defending women’s champions Oval Invincibles will take on Northern Superchargers in the opening women’s clash.
Last year’s women’s finalists will meet for the first time on Sunday, August 14 with Southern Brave travelling to take on Oval Invincibles at the Kia Oval.
The Hundred finals take place on Saturday, September 3 at Lord’s.
Ticket prices are set at £5 for under 16s and free for children aged five and under.
Sussex’s Tymal Mills (pictured above by Getty), a winner with Southern Brave last year, said: “The team can’t wait to get going again to try to defend our title this summer.
“The support we received last year at the Ageas Bowl was incredible and it’s really special that the second year of The Hundred will start there on August 3.”
