Concern over spikes

Complaints­aboutexpos­edspikes on the Pagham Spit have led to Arun District Council promising to work alongside lease owners Crown Estate to ‘find the best solution’.

The council said the spikes were part of Second World War coastal defences, which used to spread along the whole southern coastline.

“We will continue to monitor the situation and carry on our discussion­s with the Crown Estate,whowelease­theforesho­re from, to find the best solution.”
