Sussex to host anew steam show
Sussex Steam Shows is launching a new event at Parham Park this summer, featuring steam engines, a vintage parade and the opportunity to steer a fullsize steam engine.
The not-for-profit company, run by a team of volunteers, has many years’ experience, having run steam rallies in Sussex since 2008.
The shows started at Dial Post Steam Rally and moved to Wiston in 2011.
The new Sussex Steam Rally will be held at Parham Park on July 9 and 10.
Anne Whittingstall, from the steam rally committee, said: “We are delighted to be hosting a weekend of funfilled family entertainment at Parham Park for the first time.
“We have had overwhelming support from our exhibitors and visitors over the past 14 years.
“We are excited to be putting on one of the largest steam rallies in Sussex and raising money for local charities.”
More than 1,300 exhibits will be attending the volunteer-led rally, with more than 50 steam engines on show, including rollers, road locomotives, lorries, showman’s engines and miniature engines.
Arena events will include a steam parade, vintage vehicle parade and a family favourite, The Steam Games, plus the opportunity to steer a full-size steam engine.
There will also be a steam powered demonstration of wood cutting, a traditional funfair and craft and food tent.
