Funds to support victims

Victims of domestic violence in West Sussex are set to receive more support thanks to extra government funding.

An additional £125million has been pledged to councils across England so they can ensure victims and their children who need it are able to access life-saving support in safe accommodat­ion.

The government said a total of £330million had been awarded to date which has also been used by local authoritie­s to fund healthcare, social workers, interprete­rs, immigratio­n advice and other specialist services.

West Sussex County Council’s share is a total of £1.5million.
