Display looks at a year in Sussex
Nicole Phillips offers paintings and prints under the title A Sense of Place – Reflections on a year living in the landscape of Sussex at Chichester’s Oxmarket Contemporary.
Gallery director Andrew Churchill said: “Midhurstbased Nicole is inspired by nature and the landscapes that surround her in her home county of West Sussex.
“Her work is expressive and often impressionist in style, and she uses mixed media, acrylic and screen-printing techniques when creating her work.
“Nicole’s work explores her emotional response to the landscape feeling a sense of place without burdening the viewer with the detail. It is a sense of feeling of being held and embraced by the land.”
Nicole said: “By walking, noticing and seeing, looking up and reflecting on the response to your senses, chill, wind or the sun lifting, it is always about the emotion and being present remembering the sense of rather than the absolute detail of the moment.”
The exhibitions runs until April 10.
All work is for sale.
