West Sussex carers honoured at ceremony
Compassionate and devoted individuals working in social care were celebrated at the annual ‘West Sussex Care Accolades’ held virtually last Thursday.
Eighteen finalists ‘zoomed’ in for the awards, with speeches from Chichester MP Gillian Keegan, Keith Hinkley, director of adult social care for West Sussex County Council,
Amanda Jupp, cabinet member for adults services at West Sussex County Council, and Patrick Melville from Thank and Praise (TAP), highlighting the fantastic team working in West Sussex and coining the phrase ‘Better Together’.
The ceremony, hosted by West Sussex Partners in Care and supported by West Sussex County Council, recognised 17 individuals and two care teams who were outstanding winners and finalists that have gone ‘the extra mile’ and make a significant difference to the lives of people accessing care services across the county.
The accolades were opened with a message from MP and Minister of State for Care and Mental Health, Gillian Keegan, who commented on the exceptional contribution and commitment of all of the nominees and the moving examples of high quality care being provided across West Sussex.
The winners and finalists in each category were: Ancillary Worker – winner Amelia Hinshelwood; finalist Jay Dunlop; Covid Hero – winner Faye Underdown; finalists Clare Budgen and Karen Laidler; Care Worker – winner Phil Woods Lennon; finalists Tracey Kirtlan and Yvonne Bishop; Best Practice – winner Margaret Blaikie; finalist Van Troung; Care Team – winner Wraysbury House; finalist Independent Lives; Chairs Award – winner Mary Yardley; Nurses Award – winner Alison Williams; finalist Venus Salvaleon; Registered Manager – winner Liz Seymour; finalist Sam Pegg; Support Worker – winner Jamie Squire; finalist Diane Mizen.
