South Downs MP in visit to centre
Arundel and South Downs MP Andrew Griffith MP saw preparations underway for a series of events planned at Aldingbourne Country Centre during a visit.
The MP was welcomed to the centre by managing director Sue Livett and given a full tour of the site.
The charitable trust is a haven for families because of the many activities on offer. It is also a place for adults with learning disabilities who are supported by the charity and given opportunities to learn new skills in areas such as horticulture and furniture making.
Sue has been with the trust since 1997 and is passionate about how the site continues to develop and offer more opportunities for its visitors and its supported adults.
A number of on-site enterprises help to earn money for the centre and keep it thriving and independent.
Andrew met many of the centre’s staff and supported adults during his visit. They were all keen to demonstrate to him their skills and tell him how much they enjoyed spending time at the centre.
The MP praised the architecture and design of the centre’s main visitor building, which houses a shop, café, offices and conference rooms.
Following the visit, Andrew hosted one of his weekly surgeries at the centre.
