New member of museum team is welcomed
The Weald & Downland Living Museum in Singleton has recently welcomed a new member to its team of working horses.
Under the care of the museum’s working animals supervisor Andy Robinson, Thor is his second Percheron alongside Kash, who arrived at the museum with Andy four years ago. Kash can regularly be seen working with Ollie and Leon and over the last few months visitors would have seen Andy and the horses preparing the ground for this season.
At three years old, Thor is too young for various tasks but will slowly begin his training alongside the other heavy horses.
On Saturday, May 8, visitors to the museum will have the chance to learn more from the stable team about the role of working heavy horses and their seasonal farming tasks as part of the Museum’s latest Historic Life Weekend From the Earth Soil Health. Buy tickets online at www.wealddown.co.uk.
