Tip booking system madness

A couple of weeks ago, the government decreed that recycling centres/tips should revert to pre-Covid opening arrangements and stay available for residents without booking, pretty well seven days a week, without risible and totally ridiculous online booking arrangements.

Imagine having to make an appointment to dump your rubbish?! Beyond absurd.

At about the same time, it was being reported that incidents of fly-tipping had increased massively. Surprise surprise. It certainly has around here.

Make rubbish disposal either expensive or difficult and some people will just flytip – quite disgracefully.

So, what does our brilliant cabinet member at West Sussex County Council decide to do? Make the tip booking system permanent!

You really couldn’t make it up. Common sense and intelligent decision making in government has gone right out of the window.
