An historic election result
‘We wunt be druv’
Worthing and Crawley held local elections last week – and press from across the country gathered in the former as the town awaited the results.
What came was an historic moment. Labour (see page 4) saw its first councillor in Worthing in four decades elected just five years ago.
Few could have predicted the majority it now enjoys.
Demographic change may well have played a significant part in Labour’s rapid rise – but this moment must surely also be a time for reflection by the town’s now-former Conservative administration.
We wish all councillors the best in making the town the best it can be for everyone who lives and works there.
