Undeck the halls!

- Anna Jones Director of children services

Now Christmas is behind us, many of us will be looking forward to the return of some kind of normality. If you’ve made decluttering one of your New Year’s resolutions, remember that your unwanted Christmas gifts are a gift to us!

Perhaps you got two copies of a book on your Christmas list, or your new pyjamas didn’t quite fit. Maybe that jumper isn’t your colour, or you already have a breadmaker. Whatever the reason you’re giving it away, we’d love it to sell in our shops.

We welcome clothes, shoes, handbags, and accessories. We’d also love to receive games, toys (with CE mark), puzzles and paperback books. For a full list of items, please check our website – but everything we receive must be clean and of good quality. It costs us money to dispose of items we’re not able to sell.

Similarly, if you’re having a clear out to make room for your new presents or have decided to treat yourself to some new decorations for next year, please consider donating your unwanted items to us.

Please drop your unwanted gifts, decorations or other donations into your local shop or to our retail distribution warehouse during opening hours. It’s a good idea to call first to check they’re taking donations – people are so generous at this time of year that we sometimes reach maximum capacity. Donating to us is a great way of living more sustainably and streamlining your possessions as well as supporting children’s hospice care. So that’s three New Year’s resolutions accomplished in one fell swoop!
