Ir­ish cobs head bumper en­try of horses and ponies

A RE­DUC­TION sale of qual­ity Ir­ish cobs is ex­pected to lead bid­ding at Ex­eter Live­stock Cen­tre.

Rang­ing from breed­ing mares to young­stock, the horses hail­ing from a Chudleigh-based breeder will form part of a bumper en­try of 70 horses and ponies at the Kiv­ells mar­ket on Tues­day, Novem­ber 6.

Auc­tion­eers say sev­eral from the dis­per­sal are mares with foals at foot, all boast­ing blood­lines go­ing back many gen­er­a­tions.

In ad­di­tion to the Ir­ish Cobs, there will be a con­sign­ment of rid­ing horses and ponies from one yard near North Taw­ton, rang­ing from 14hh to 16.2hh. Coming in from cen­tral Devon is a trio of grey don­keys, with a fur­ther 20 on of­fer from yards and farms across Devon and Corn­wall.

The sale will get un­der way at 10.30am with the auc­tion of 650 lots of sad­dlery and tack, in­clud­ing the first con­sign­ment from a Chard shop which has ceased trad­ing.

Kiv­ells equine auc­tion­eer, James Mor­rish, said: “A warm wel­come awaits ev­ery­one at Ex­eter Mar­ket, with re­fresh­ments served all day and free park­ing.”
