Barnes next up for Titans

-

TAUNTON Titans will attempt to keep up the pressure at the top of National Two South when they play away to tenth-placed Barnes in London this afternoon.

The Titans are lying second in the table, only four points behind leaders The Rams, who have lost only once this season.

Barnes are an improving outfit and won 10-5 away to Dings Crusaders last weekend.

But Titans’ forwards are now beginning to dominate games and they set up a 50-0 home win over Bury St Edmunds last week.

“Titans are blessed with an excellent squad of forwards in all positions, particularly in the back row, where Jarrard Hayler is becoming a regular try-scorer and turning in a real shift week on week,” said the Somerset side’s spokesman Dick Macey.

After this game, Titans, like everyone else have a week off, before hosting The Rams.

Taunton’s title hopes would receive a boost if Bristol outfit Dings, pictured, who currently lie in eighth place, could upset The Rams in Berkshire today.

Elsewhere, third-from-bottom Old Reds also have a tough task as they travel to sixth-placed Tonbridge Juddian for their match.

And third-placed Clifton do not have it easier either as they must travel to Henley, who are third in the table ahead of round ten of the campaign.

In National League One, Paul Morris’ Cinderford side have an away game at Caldy.

The side from the Wirral were top of the table last week, but dropped to fifth, while the Forest of Dean outfit are eighth.

Championship side Hartpury are not in competitive action this weekend.
