Palmer and Hall in squad for Taunton

-

TAUNTON will include two new players in their squad for today’s Southern League Premier Division South game away to Swindon Supermarine.

Utility player Lewis Hall has joined from Hereford FC, while centre-back Ed Palmer has returned to the Viridor Stadium after a spell with Truro City.

Taunton are fourth in the table, but have recently been knocked out of two competitions – the FA Cup and FA Trophy – and head of football Rob Dray said: “With just the league to focus on, we need a positive result.”

Supermarine are 17th in the league table, but Dray is aware that they are unbeaten in their last three games.

He added: “They have good players, they’re experienced, and they have a lovely set-up.”

Taunton will be without their suspended striker Rocky Neal, while Nuno Felix has signed for Chippenham after Taunton waived the seven-day approach.

With Salisbury facing Hendon, Taunton could make up some ground on the two teams immediately above them if they win

The Whites have home advantage against Hendon and could move four points clear of third with a victory, although they have played two games more than the side from London.

Salisbury trail league leaders Weymouth by three points having played the same number of games. The south coast side go to Basingstoke this afternoon.

Elsewhere, Frome will look to put further ground between themselves and the relegation zone when they hit the road for their match.

However, they will find it tough at a Beaconsfield side that are lying fifth in the table with 19 points – six more than their visitors from Somerset.
