Way calls for focus from his players

-

DARREN Way is demanding his Yeovil Town players have the right mindset for the visit of Stockport in the FA Cup this afternoon.

Facing the National League North outfit in the first round, the Green & Whites will look to emulate last season’s run to the fourth round.

After playing three teams from higher divisions in last season’s competition, the Glovers will this time take on the Hatters, who sit two divisions below.

“The FA Cup is known for giantkilling, so we have to make sure we’re not on the wrong end of that,” Way, pictured, told the official club website.

“This group is very professional and has a lot of athleticism, and we use the pitch really well. Watching the way Stockport play, they’ll come at us in spells – I hope so because it will be an entertaining game then – but it will be down to our quality.

“If you’ve not got the right mindset, it can go drastically wrong, so I’ll make sure that doesn’t happen with my players.”

Swindon’s James Dunne is equally determined to avoid any complacency when the Robins play host to National League North outfit York City.

“Last year we went to Dartford with a good attitude and we got an early goal, which put their heads down,” he said.

“Dartford started strongly, if I remember rightly, they had a few chances and then we got the goal and settled down a bit, then we managed to go two or three up by half-time.

“If we can get an early goal on Saturday, then hopefully it will take the sting out of the game.”

Ebbsfleet will be led by Garry Hill for the first time when they host Cheltenham in their first round match-up.

The former Woking, Rushden & Diamonds, Hornchurch and Dagenham & Redbridge boss was confirmed as the Kent club’s new manager on Thursday, succeeding Daryl McMahon, who parted company with the National League side on Wednesday.

Hill, 59, has been out of management since leaving Woking in May 2017.

Forest Green Rovers will be hoping to pull off an upset when they travel to Oxford in their first round tie today.

The Gloucestershire side are ninth in League Two, Oxford 21st in League One.
