Quiet switch-on for town’s lights

A CITY that has had its Christmas lights switched on by Nicolas Cage, John Cleese and Mary Berry in the past was illuminated with no fanfare this year.

Bath’s city centre lights were switched on at around 3pm on Thursday, signalling the start of the festive season. But it was carried out in quiet fashion – the second year in a row there has been no ‘event’, due to the costs of putting it on.
