Titans ‘blow hot and cold’
TAUNTON Titans will be aiming to bounce back following their trouncing by Tonbridge Juddian when they play at home to Old Reds in an all-West Country clash in National Two South today.
Titans have already lost five matches this season and have slipped from second to sixth in the league table.
Long-serving Titans president Jack Matthews said: “The side is lacking consistency – we blow hot and cold. Our coaches are trying to address the situation. We went to Tonbridge thinking we could get a result, but we got what we deserved (a 46-17 defeat).”
The previous weekend, Titans gave leaders The Rams a run for their money and they fielded a similar side at Tonbridge.
“I can’t explain why we were so disappointing last week,” added the club president.
Fourth-from-bottom Old Reds have won just two of their 12 games so far this season, but are always competitive and will fancy their chances of making it an uncomfortable afternoon for the off-colour Titans.
Elsewhere, the West region’s other two National Two South sides have mid-table affairs with Dings hosting Guernsey, and Clifton entertaining Barnes.
In National League One, eighth-placed Cinderford make the journey to Rotherham, who lie in sixth position.
