MP’s researcher accused of sexual assault
A RESEARCHER for a West Tory minister has appeared in court accused of sexually assaulting a woman in the Houses of Parliament.
Callum Warren, 26 of Lilliput Court, Chipping Sodbury, works for Conservative MP Chris Skidmore, who represents Kingswood.
Warren was bailed by Westminster Magistrates’ Court to appear at Southwark Crown Court on January 24.
It is alleged that on July 12, Warren sexually assaulted a woman with intent.
It is claimed that the offence took place in the Norman Shaw North building – commonly known as the original New Scotland Yard – which is now part of the parliamentary estate.
Shaven-headed and bearded Warren dressed in a blue suit, white shirt and blue patterned tie spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth, address and nationality during the short hearing.
The charge is indictable-only, and Warren was sent to crown court on the condition that he does not contact the victim.
His lawyer Tom Warden indicated that the charge would be fought.
“There was no penetration and any sexual contact was consensual,” he told District Judge Nina Tempia.
Judge Tempia informed Warren that he was not permitted to contact the complainant directly or indirectly by phone, email, or social media in order to prevent further offences or interference with the witness.
