Crash pi­lot es­capes in­jury

A PI­LOT some­how es­caped without in­jury de­spite the plane he was fly­ing crash-land­ing into a field and then flip­ping over.

The pi­lot was fly­ing a Cessna 195 plane from Dunkeswell Air­field, in Devon, when it suf­fered a me­chan­i­cal fail­ure on Thurs­day af­ter­noon.

He was forced into mak­ing an emer­gency land­ing in a field near Honi­ton, where he crash-landed.

When Honi­ton fire­fight­ers and the po­lice turned up at the field in Cole­stocks at 1.15pm, they saw that the plane had flipped over.

The pi­lot, be­lieved to be in his 40s, was not in­jured and crews made the air­craft safe be­fore re­turn­ing to the sta­tion.

Dunkeswell Air­field is where the Devon and Som­er­set Flight Train­ing com­pany is based.
