Crash pilot escapes injury

-

A PILOT somehow escaped without injury despite the plane he was flying crash-landing into a field and then flipping over.

The pilot was flying a Cessna 195 plane from Dunkeswell Airfield, in Devon, when it suffered a mechanical failure on Thursday afternoon.

He was forced into making an emergency landing in a field near Honiton, where he crash-landed.

When Honiton firefighters and the police turned up at the field in Colestocks at 1.15pm, they saw that the plane had flipped over.

The pilot, believed to be in his 40s, was not injured and crews made the aircraft safe before returning to the station.

Dunkeswell Airfield is where the Devon and Somerset Flight Training company is based.
