Community bus for the Cam Valley

- Rosemary Naish Chair, Clutton Parish Council Somerset

AS everyone who lives in a village knows, public transport is a real issue. Buses are few and far between, or non-existent, so if you don’t drive you have problems with everyday things like getting to hospital or doctors’ appointments, going shopping, getting children to school etc.

Due to a recent development in Clutton, Somerset, I have been able to get £150,000 ring-fenced to

set up a community bus to serve the Cam Valley. This will be a bus service that will run on a set route, with a set timetable, that anyone can get on, and that will be run by the community, for the community, at cost.

I’m looking for volunteers to join a steering group to help get the bus service running, so if there are any readers who would like to get involved in setting up this venture, please get in touch, either by post to The Clerk, Clutton Parish Council, PO Box 1287, Bristol BS39 5XX, or by email to chairperson@clutton. org.uk.
