Western Daily Press (Saturday) - - On This Day -

Happy New Year everyone, this is Olivia Newton-John and I just want to say that the rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated, to quote a very famous quote - Actress Olivia Newton-John says she is “doing great” even though diagnosed with cancer.

My life, it’s slipping away and I can feel it and I should. I’m 75, I’m near the end. I’m nearer the end than I am the beginning. But it doesn’t frighten me, it’s an adventure - Comedian Sir Billy Connolly.

There are people you have mad passionate affairs with and people who you marry. Marriage is finding somebody who you can raise a family with, grow old with and who you want to come home to. It sounds a bit of a passion killer, but it’s true -

Cold Feet star Hermione Norris.

I wasn’t unaware that there were people in the industry who abused their power, or who were seedy or untrustworthy. But because of my mother I was never a victim and I’m very, very thankful. I didn’t leave home at 19 all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed – I hadn’t been wrapped in cotton wool – but I had been protected” - Irish actress Saoirse Ronan.

“It was really hot and windy! I couldn’t help thinking, there probably is a body in there somewhere. Imagine if we happened upon it! - Actress Brenda Blethyn on filming the detective series Vera.
