£150 fine for car park ticket fraud
A DRIVER has paid Bath and North East Somerset Council
£150 after making and using fake parking tickets in the city.
The tickets were used in at least two cars and over a number of months.
Bath and North East Somerset Council said its civil enforcement officers were “instrumental” in securing the motorist’s conviction via a police caution. The motorist had “persistently failed” to buy a valid parking ticket for parking in a Bath car park.
A B&NES Council spokesman said: “While examining a parking ticket displayed in the windscreen of a car, an officer noticed discrepancies that indicated it may be a fraudulent ticket.
“In the following months, officers saw both this, and another vehicle linked to the driver, on numerous occasions, displaying tickets with similar discrepancies. Having identified the driver when they returned to their vehicle, the matter was passed to Bath Police via Action Fraud in July last year.”
The council has not ‘named and shamed’ the driver concerned.
