Norwood is the one we must watch, warns Duff

this morning. I got a little bit of a buzz back in the stomach. There was other interest, but when this one came up I just thought ‘Yes that’s the one’. I got a few butterflies in the stomach and it’s nice to be back.”

Waters has been given squad number 21 and is Duff ’s second loan signing of the January window, following the arrival of left-back Cameron Pring from Bristol City.

Speaking about the game today, Robins boss Duff said: “Tranmere are a difficult one because they flip between 4-4-2 and 4-4-1-1 and they can play 3-5-2 as well.

“It will be difficult to predict what they are going to do, but we’re at home, on a decent type of run, so it’s more about what we can deliver.”

And on James Norwood, the 18-goal former Forest Green striker, Duff added: “He’s a good player. He holds it up well and wants to score a goal. Every single time it goes out wide, he’s the one running hard to get in the middle of the pitch to score. He lives off his goals and his record speaks for itself. He’s one to watch, obviously.”

Following a week where Forest Green have been in the headlines for the spat between themselves and Bolton over the Christian Doidge transfer, it should be a relief for the Gloucestershire club to get back out on the field of play.

Rovers visit Oldham this afternoon with both clubs very much in the mix for promotion.

Forest Green lie sixth, just three points off automatic promotion, while the Latics are tenth, five points off a play-off place.

Doidge has been included in the Forest Green squad.

Gloucester City have announced that attacking midfielder Fabien Robert has rejoined the club on loan from Forest Green until the summer.

The Frenchman was with the National League side for two months earlier in the campaign.

Alongside Robert, Gloucester have also announced the signings of Tigers old boy Zack Kotwica, rightback Harry Hodges and left-back Ryan Law.

Meanwhile, former Gloucester City manager Chris Todd has signed for Toolstation League side Buckland Athletic as a player.
