Front man Duffus out to build on his winner

-

HAVING scored the winning goal against Cambridge last time out, Yeovil Town striker Courtney Duffus is hoping he can fire the Glovers to safety over the remainder of the campaign.

Duffus joined the Somerset side following a spell at Oldham and is hoping to be in the side that hosts Morecambe this afternoon.

“Things weren’t going great for me at Oldham, and I got a phone call from (Yeovil assistant boss) Paul Terry, who was at Oldham, so it sort of just happened like that really,” Duffus said of his transfer, on the official club website.

“I got a good feeling when I came down and spoke to the manager, and obviously I’ve seen the way he does things and I think I’ve made the right choice by coming here.

“The biggest target this season is to make sure we stay in the Football League. Personally, it’s just about getting myself out there and getting as many minutes as I can and scoring as many goals as I can.

“Last week we put in a performance for the fans to get behind as well, they’ve not been getting results the last few weeks, so it was good to give them something.”

Elsewhere, Swindon Town boss Richie Wellens has hailed on-loan front man Theo Robinson ahead of the home game with fifth-placed Colchester this afternoon.

Wellens’ side are unbeaten in three games against opposition all aiming for promotion.

The manager told the official club website: “I don’t necessarily feel the need to change too much – I was looking to change the shape, but Theo can actually do the work of two people, so it allows us to keep the pace up on both sides.

“He’s been brilliant since he walked through the door – he’s had a great impact on everyone from the players to the staff and the supporters as well. He just needs to keep his head down and keep grafting. He’s a very good asset to the group.”

Meanwhile, Rakish Bingham goes back to Mansfield as a Cheltenham player looking to cause an upset at the One Call Stadium.

The forward, who signed on deadline day in January, turned out for the Stags during 2014-15.

Bingham told the official club website: “This will be the first time for three years I’ve gone back there. I went back with Hartlepool. Mansfield are doing well at the minute and it’ll be a tough game. It’s good to see them doing as well as they’re doing, but we want to go there and take the sting out of their tail.”

Victory for Cheltenham there would be a big boost to promotionchasing Forest Green, who face a tough task themselves at home to Lincoln City.
