Taunton face side they hit seven against

-

LEADERS Taunton Town will be chasing the season’s double when they play at Harrow Borough in the Premier Division of the Southern League this afternoon.

Borough let themselves down when they played at the Viridor Stadium in December, having three players sent off in the first half as they crashed 7-0. The game was particularly memorable for Ed Palmer, who scored a goal from inside his own half.

Borough are currently lying just outside the play-off places – and are sixth in the table.

Harrow won 4-0 against Poole last Saturday, but followed this up with a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to relegation-threatened Walton Casuals on Tuesday night.

Taunton will also be looking to bounce back after dropping two crucial home points in a 1-1 draw against Swindon Supermarine on Wednesday, when the visitors equalised in the 87th minute.

How important that goal will be will not be known until the end of the season. However, Taunton still go into today’s game with a four-point lead over Weymouth, with Salisbury third.

Salisbury, like Weymouth, have a game in hand on Taunton, but have a tough away game against Wimborne. Weymouth, meanwhile, play at Frome, who are second from bottom.

Frome are desperate for points themselves, being seven points adrift of the safety line with the games starting to run out.

The Metropolitan Police, who are two points further back than Salisbury and Weymouth, but with a further game in hand, are away to lowly Tiverton.

Following their midweek draw at Taunton, Swindon Supermarine play host to fellow midtable side Chesham as they try to bridge a seven-point gap to the play-off places.
