Constable barred from all forces
A FORMER police officer has been barred from ever working in any force again after pursuing improper relationships with two vulnerable women.
PC Jason Vernon resigned in February but a misconduct hearing has now decided that he would have been dismissed anyway if he had not already resigned.
The investigation found that the former Avon and Somerset Police officer abused his position by engaging in inappropriate behaviour towards two vulnerable women.
In the case of one of the women, a domestic abuse victim, PC Vernon attended her home with a bottle of wine.
And he sent inappropriate emails to the other woman.
An Independent Office for Police Conduct investigation found a case against PC Vernon for gross misconduct.
The hearing, held at Avon and Somerset Constabulary yesterday, found he had breached the authority, respect and courtesy standards of professional behaviour.
Operations Manager Mel
Evans said: “Police officers are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional behaviour.
“This misconduct hearing has determined, having considered the evidence, that the sanction of dismissal is the most appropriate outcome in this case.”
The investigation began in May 2018 following a referral from Avon and Somerset Constabulary and concluded in November.
Mr Vernon will now be placed on the barred list of former officers who cannot work for the police service in the future.
