Dwindling faith in politicians
POLITICIANS are elected to represent the wishes of the UK population along with select professional advisers in the civil service. Recently, the Independent Standards Authority awarded MPs a 2.7 per cent increase in their salary even though the current inflation rate is 1.8 per cent; the figure on which MPs decide the appropriate basic rate of pay .
This increase of 2.7 per cent has understandably annoyed the manager of the Taxpayers Alliance who feels that it is unjust to reward employees( for politicians are employed to work for the public) for failing to do their duty, failing to obey the requested ‘Will of the People’, as expressed in the June
2016 referendum , a wish to leave the EU supposedly to occur on March
29, 2019.
Without embarrassment, certain MPs are drawing funds from the public purse whilst arguing for a delay in the exit by insisting that the Article 50 date be extended. UK citizens faith in politicians has dwindled so much it is likely the 2022 General Election will be contested by a larger choice of parties than presently exist and is likely to result in another ‘Hung Parliament’ and further uncertainty for both the large corporate bodies which are essential for this country’s GDP and the employment of its growing population.
