Swindon playing without fear now – McCourt

-

JAK McCourt insists Swindon Town fear no-one as they bid to make a late run into play-off contention.

McCourt, pictured, has been a regular in the Robins midfield throughout their recent run of good results as they went unbeaten through February and into March.

“I think I’ve done whatever the manager’s asked,” said McCourt. “That’s the main thing. We’ve been playing really good football recently and it shows because the results have got us close to the play-offs.”

Looking ahead to the weekend’s test against their fellow promotion- hopefuls Carlisle, the 23-year-old takes no fear into playing against anyone in League Two – because of the form his side are in.

“We’re not focussing too far ahead – we know this weekend will be tough. I’ve played there a few times now and it’s never an easy game, but I think with the form we’re in, they’ll be more worried about us then we are them. I’ve said it a few times now that we’re going into games not fearing anyone.”

Swindon are just four points off the play-offs with a game in hand on all the sides above them.

Cheltenham boss Michael Duff has warned of the threat carried by today’s visitors Notts County.

The Magpies sit bottom of League Two and the Robins secured a 3-0 victory at Meadow Lane earlier in the season, but County came away from Forest Green with three points on their last trip to Gloucestershire.

Duff said: “They’ve changed their team a lot since we last played them. They’ve brought a lot of new players in and they’ve had some good results recently as well. They know they need to come and get a result, so be aware of the wounded animal.”
