Put the poor results to bed – boss Dray

-

TAUNTON Town will be looking to bounce back after dropping five points out of a possible six when they play at home to Hartley Wintney in the Southern League Premier Division South today.

Despite losing some form, the Somerset side still go into the game with a one-point lead at the top of the table over secondplaced Weymouth, who have a game in hand.

“Back in August, no-one would have predicted we would be top at this stage of the season,” said Taunton’s head of football Rob Dray. “You are measured on how you do over a season and I think we’re having a great season so far.

“We lost 1-0 in our last game at Harrow Borough to a penalty which could have been avoidable, and we also missed some scoring chances.

“We beat Borough 7-0 in December, so they had something to prove.

“But we’re good at putting poor results behind us. We’ve got a fantastic group of players here.”

Salisbury, in third place and only three points behind Taunton with a match in hand, are home to Kings Langley, who are just outside of the play-off spots.

Weymouth, meanwhile, have a home match against Hendon.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the table, Frome need to start stringing victories together as they are eight points adrift of the safety mark with ten games left.

And they could not hope to have a better chance of picking up three points this afternoon as they visit bottom-of-the-table Staines, who with just nine points are already relegated.

Swindon Supermarine, who are nine points outside the play-off places, have a chance to enhance their bid for the top five with an away match at relegation-threatened Basingstoke.
