Six in court after faeces thrown at passenger

-

SIX men appeared in court yesterday charged with getting undressed on a train then flinging excrement around the carriage, hitting a female passenger.

The group, aged 21 to 27, are accused of loudly discussing their sexual exploits and asking passengers to expose themselves.

They also allegedly “defecated in a public area on the train, before throwing that faeces around and hitting a female passenger”.

They all face one charge of doing an act of outraging public decency while travelling between Bath Spa station and Chippenham on July 11 last year. The group appeared at Swindon Crown Court yesterday.

They are also accused of using abusive language towards passengers and of removing items of their own clothing.

Toby Clarke, 22, of Whaddon, Wiltshire, and Bobby Clifford, 21, of Chippenham, previously pleaded guilty at Swindon Crown Court.

They were released on bail, to be sentenced at a later date.

Josh Dolman, 26, of Calne, Wiltshire, and Edward McCormack, 25, of Chippenham, both pleaded not guilty yesterday to the charges.

They will appear at Swindon Crown Court on July 1 to face trial.

Alistair Ellis, 25, and Andrew McCabe, 27, both of Chippenham, did not enter any pleas to the charges and are due back in court on May 9.

A seventh man, Dominic Patten, 21, of Chippenham, was unable to appear before the court as he is completing his university studies in the United States.

There is a reporting restriction on the charges Patten faces.

Patten is scheduled to appear via video link at Swindon Magistrates’ Court next Thursday.
