No pressure on Frome, warns Dray

-

TAUNTON head of football Rob Dray has described today’s derby game at Frome in the Southern League Premier Division South as a ‘must-win’ match for his side.

Dray’s men have dropped seven points in their last three games and have been knocked off the top of the table by Weymouth.

The Terras, who play away to Wimborne, have a one-point lead over Taunton, and also have a game in hand. Only four points separate the top four sides with Salisbury and the Met Police still in the title chase.

Dray said: “A lot of teams in the last three months have raised their game against us; then the game after they lose heavily.

“You’ve got to do the basics well – if we do that we’re a match for any team in the league.

“Frome are second from the bottom of the table, but it’s a free hit for them with no pressure.”

Taunton, who fielded an experimental side in beating Welton 1-0 at home in the quarter-finals of the Somerset Premier Cup in midweek, will be back to near full-strength for today’s game with only Ben Adelsbury missing from the squad due to a onematch suspension.

Salisbury, in third place, play away to Tiverton, who can be a difficult side to beat at home, while fourth-placed Met Police are home to Kings Langley, who are lying sixth and have a good chance of finishing in an end-ofseason play-off place.

Near the bottom, Frome are nine points adrift of the next placed side Gosport Borough, and are in deep trouble.

Elsewhere, in the division, Swindon Supermarine, who are nine points off the play-offs but just six above the drop zone, host a Beaconsfield side that hovers narrowly above the bottom three themselves.
