Mills likely to sit out rest of the campaign

-

LLOYD Mills may have played his last game of the season for Bristol Manor Farm after a scan showed damage to his Achilles tendon.

Mills suffered the injury in the 2-0 win at Mangotsfield last week and boss Lee Lashenko, who is preparing his side to take on AFC Totton at The Creek this weekend, admits he will be a big loss.

“The injury is worse than we first feared and Lloyd could be out for at least five to six weeks,” said Lashenko. “That may give him time for a run-out before the season ends, but really I would prefer him to get fit for preseason because he is in my thoughts for next season already.

“He has been a key player and even if he doesn’t play again Lloyd is in line to be my player of the season. He has been terrific.”

Title-contenders Yate face a huge match away to in-form Cirencester on their artificial pitch. Yate have lost two of their last four games and manager Paul Britton knows they cannot afford too many further slip-ups if they are to keep up the pressure on leaders Blackfield & Langley, who enjoy a three-point advantage at the top of Division One South.

“Unfortunately, that is the worst form of our season, so the timing is not ideal by any stretch. But we are in good spirits and we weren’t too down after losing last week,” said Britton. “Cirencester will be very tough and they have the top goal-scorer in the league in Ben Whitehead (30 goals). If they beat us this weekend they close to within four points, but if we beat them the gap will be ten, so it is a big game for us both.”

Mangotsfield manager Ollie Price will be again without top goalscorer Louis Britton for the match against Phil Bater’s Larkhall at Cossham Street.

The talented Britton is training with Bristol City.
