Missing dog Kobi reunited with owner after two-day search

-

A WOMAN has been reunited with her dog after he went missing when the country went into lockdown.

Emily Gray, 27, from Corsham in Wiltshire, lost her seven-month-old English springer spaniel Kobi, pictured, on Monday and feared with the nation on lockdown he might be hard to find.

She had been walking her three dogs at Beckhampton Gallops, which is owned by Derby-winning racehorse trainer Roger Charlton, late in the afternoon.

Emily said she had finished the walk and was at her car when Kobi was scared by another dog and bolted across the A4 into the distance.

She chased after him but was unable to find Kobi who had crawled through a barbed-wire fence into a field towards Yatesbury.

She said: “It was absolutely horrendous. I think in the first half an hour I just thought he had run off. I didn’t think for a minute he would be gone long.”

She added: “We had great support from the charity DogLost, we registered him missing and they notified volunteers in the area.”

What followed was two days of searching for Kobi, who was spotted in Berwick Bassett and Wroughton. Chalkland Vets in Chippenham helped by printing missing dog posters for Emily, who placed them around the area.

On Wednesday afternoon Harry Charlton, son of Roger, spotted Kobi in the field opposite Beckhampton Gallops and called Emily, along with other members of the public.

Roger Charlton, who landed the Derby in 1990 with Quest for Fame, then helped stop Kobi running onto the A4.

Emily said: “Roger was at the top of the path with his car pushing back from the hill so Kobi didn’t run onto the road. We sat with the other dogs on the grass very still. We didn’t call or whistle.

“Then I could see in the corner of my eye Kobi was coming towards us. He was creeping over and had his tail between his legs – he was very scared. He recognised us and jumped into my lap – he was home.”

Emily has thanked everyone who assisted in the search for Kobi.
