Remember the drought of 1976?

- Jack Spiers St Dominic, Cornwall

THOSE of us who are a little older will remember the 1976 drought. It started back in the previous autumn with little rain during the winter and spring.

Come the 1st of June 1976, the sun came out and stayed out until the second week of September, I believe.

However, what most people forget is that on 31st May there was a light covering of snow on Dartmoor, which was visible from where I live in East Cornwall.

You will wish to check your records for accuracy but the 1st June 2020 is nearly upon us with no hint of rain, let alone snow!
