Stalker made ‘shame page’ and sent victim explicit images
AMAN has been convicted of stalking after bombarding a woman with messages and threatening her with sexual photos of herself.
Kieran Seager, 21, of Amberley Close in Keynsham, deluged his victim over the course of a day in April and even created a “shame page” in her name online.
Seager pleaded guilty to stalking and breaching a court order before Bristol Crown Court.
Judge Michael Longman jailed him for 26 months, which included activation of a previously suspended two months.
He told Seager: “Over a significant period you bombarded her with messages and sent her sexually explicit images she had previously sent to you.
“The purpose can only have been to worry her and assert more power over her.
“The effect can only have been threatening to her.
“It was all calculated and intended to distress her and of course it had the desired effect.”
Alex Daymond, prosecuting via video link due to coronavirus lockdown, confirmed that although Seager created a “shame page” he posted no explicit images there.
Emily Evans, defending via video link, said there had been concerns over her client’s mental health.
She said personal issues pushed him into offending.
Ms Evans told the court: “He went into self-destruct mode. He was drinking and using drugs. He lost his accommodation and lost his job.
“Incarceration has given him time for reflection. He has identified that drink and drugs are a trigger as a result of inability to cope with his emotions.”
Detective Constable Ricky Norman said: “The length of sentence is a reflection of how seriously Avon and Somerset Constabulary and the courts take stalking by social media.
“The victim continues to receive support following Seager’s actions, which reflects the deep impact any form of stalking has.”
