Beales store sites to be auctioned
TWO former Beales department store sites in Yeovil are to be sold at auction next month.
The separate sites, formerly the home of Denners, are located on High Street in the heart of Yeovil town centre.
The department stores, which had been a cornerstone of the town centre for many years, closed in March 2020 after Beales fell into administration two months earlier.
The large sites, including the main five-floor building, have stood empty since the closure.
Although they had been marketed by estate agent Avison Young throughout 2020, a buyer could not be found, and now the buildings will go to an online auction on May 28.
The main property is Grade-II listed and is also part of the Yeovil Town Centre Conservation area, meaning any potential redevelopment would need to be closely scrutinised by councillors.
