Promotion is definitely the target – Sarll

-

YEOVIL kick off their National League campaign seven days later than planned when King’s Lynn visit Huish Park this afternoon.

The Glovers had to sit out last weekend’s opening round of fixtures due to cases of Covid in their camp, resulting in their scheduled match at Wrexham being called off.

King’s Lynn, meanwhile, were beaten 1-0 at home by Southend.

Asked about his ambitions for the season, Yeovil boss Darren Sarll said: “Promotion definitely. It doesn’t matter how many years we stay out the EFL, that is still the aim. I still want to win every week, I want to go to (promotion favourites) Stockport and Wrexham and take them on.”

Mark Little and Reuben Reid are already on the long-term injured list, while Alex Bradley will not feature either.

Recent arrival Adi Yussuf is likely to be involved in some capacity, however.

In the National League South, Bath City have started the new campaign with two wins from two games, and they will look to make it three from three at home to Chelmsford this afternoon.

By contrast, the visitors from Essex have begun the season with two defeats.

Chippenham, who did not play last weekend due to a Covid19-related postponement, return at action at Slough.

Meanwhile, in the National League North, Gloucester City are away to Guiseley. The Tigers won 4-0 at home to York in front of more than 2,000 fans last weekend and will be hopeful of maintaining their unbeaten start to the new campaign.

Hereford, on the other hand, have just one point from two matches and now face AFC Fylde, who have two victories from two under their belt.
