Stick to what we have been doing – Edwards

-

FOREST Green Rovers head coach Rob Edwards has warned his players that they must not take Scunthorpe lightly just because they are at the foot of League Two.

While the Green Devils lead the table by four points and have a ninepoint advantage over the first team in the play-offs – both with a game in hand – the hapless Iron are ten points from safety with seven games remaining and looking at a first spell outside the Football League since way back in 1950.

Asked how Rovers could avoid such a banana skin, Edwards told his pre-match press conference: “Just by making sure we do everything right.

“A lot of it is about consistency and what we’ve been doing all season. We want to enjoy this moment and we want to live in the present.

“Don’t look too far into the future, don’t look back – just enjoy where we are right now. Enjoying it, being brave and having loads of energy – those were the things the players wanted to talk about.

“Scunthorpe have their own things going on at the moment, but they’ll be playing for a lot of pride, and every game is difficult at this stage.”

Swindon Town head coach Ben Garner expects a difficult afternoon for his players at Rochdale today.

Play-off chasing Swindon are 18 points better off than Dale, but the boss is ready for a tough test.

Garner said: “I think Rochdale are a really good team. I think when I watch them play, when I look at the data aside from the League table, they should be higher than they are.

“We know it’s going to be a tough game, they had a good result midweek, and I know they’ve had a little bit of a tough run recently, but we’ll be going there with respect.”
