Hear what you want... and disregard the rest

-

WHY are there so few credible politicians or statespeople today? To my mind the answer is that they are mostly bought for mouthpieces for the real rulers i.e. bankers and corporations.

Politicians simply comply with their wishes, hence the billions still being invested into fossil fuels and perhaps why the gambling sites are free to ruin lives despite their tokenistic warnings or how corporations ‘greenwash’ their practices by purchasing carbon offsets?

Bankers and corporations are not elected, yet it is they that shape our destiny. They are mostly blind. Their business is profit and profit alone. I fear their blinkered minds will create a dystopia for the many.

Such short-term, profit-orientated vision has left our infrastructures in tatters and companies literally getting away with murder, e.g. sewage dumping and the neglect of contingency plans for the longforewarned epidemic that has cost so dear these last two years.

The waste of billions on track and trace and dodgy PPE. The starvation of the health service almost certainly a ploy to promote the uptake of private care despite the reality of it being the same staff, as all medical training is done through the taxpayers’ NHS.

When it finally collapses through exhaustion, this government will declare it unfit for purpose and we will have the American system.

Ask yourself why the banks are so keen on a cashless society? Is it for your benefit? Have you gained anything from the millions saved from bank closures unless you are wealthy enough to be a shareholder?

Think of the promises of the referendum and the last election. Where are they? Brexit and Ukraine and that word ‘unprecedented’ are offered up as excuses for the unholy mess we are in. Wars and epidemics are not unprecedented.

I wonder how many amongst us are contrite enough to admit how easily we have been duped by the lies, slogans and so called charisma of these mouthpieces?

Simon and Garfunkel profoundly sang ‘a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest’. How true is this of the British electorate?
