Booing at National Anthem is a disgrace

-

I WATCHED BBC Question Time this week, it seems to be continuing in a very predictable fashion, with a hostile, mainly left-leaning audience and panel, a presenter who constantly interrupts and some hapless Tory MP taking flack from all sides! I found last night’s programme (May 19) particularly appalling, when the question of booing the National Anthem at the Liverpool match was raised, most of the audience appeared to think it was justified, while the panel (except the Conservative member) stated that while they would not do it themselves they sympathized with those who did. All the usual reasons were brought up, the Hillsborough disaster, the north-south divide, the Government and of course ‘Brexit’ of which the SNP member on the panel (predictably) tried to bring into every question put forward in his answers.

Not one, not one single person even considered that ‘God Save the Queen’ is the National Anthem of our country and has nothing whatever to do with politics, football, ‘Brexit’ or anything else. I found this attitude not only disgraceful but somewhat depressing and while I of course agree that people are entitled to their opinions, I could not help but think that if this is the general attitude throughout the country and not just Liverpool, then ‘God Help England’.

Another question and most of the answers to it (and one that is frequently being raised throughout the country) was about working from home. It would seem that, having sampled the ‘delights’ of

WFH during the pandemic, many people and, of course, the unions appear to think it is their ‘right’ to choose whether they continue do so or return to their office. No mention about their employer, who is having to pay the expense of keeping that almost empty office and of course no mention about the employer’s ‘right’ to insist that their staff return to the office, or their ‘right’ to choose whether or not they want to allow their employees to work from their homes. I used to enjoy Question

Time but it appears that, like the BBC in general, it is getting increasingly biased towards the left.
