Camp Bestival goers see double

-

REVELLERS at a West music festival were left seeing double – and it had nothing to do with consuming too much cider.

People who attended Camp Bestival in Dorset last weekend say their bank accounts have been charged twice for numerous food and drink purchases.

Camp Bestival, which was held at Lulworth Castle, saw tens of thousands descend on the beauty spot. The four-day event was cashless, which meant all bars and food traders would only accept contactless payments via bank cards, Google Pay and Apple Pay.

Yet days after the festival, people checked their bank statements to see that duplicate payments had been made at the same time and date.

One person claimed to have been billed £400 more than they should have been.

A spokeswoman for Camp Bestival apologised for the duplicate payments and said they were aware of the issue, with affected customers set to be refunded.

She said: “We have been in touch with Global Payments who process all payments onsite and they have confirmed that there were some payment issues which led to some customers being charged more than once for the same transaction. All affected customers will be automatically reimbursed in the coming days. However, if you were affected and haven’t received a refund by August 11, please contact us.”
