Nuclear power only viable way forward

-

ON Thursday, Jo Smoldon wrote yet again about the nuclear power generation facilities at Hinkley Point with a provocative anti-nuclear opening statement regarding ‘46 years of nuclear waste generation.’

Naturally she fails to mention 46 years of electrical power generation or the inconvenient fact that Hinkley B provided 3% of UK power supplies.

She expresses no sympathy for the real people who have safely worked there for many years.

She doesn’t say how she would manage this power generation shortfall now or in the future but in fact, like many of her mindset, seems to be long on complaining but short on practical, viable, long-term solutions.

Yes, nuclear waste has to be safely dealt with, and that process is neither easy or cheap, but unless we glaze the entire countryside with solar panels with wind turbines towering over them I re-state that in my opinion nuclear power is the only viable way forward.
