The filthy state of my city is embarrassing

-

WE have lived and worked in and around Bath since 1970 and never before have we witnessed Bath to be in such an unloved and filthy condition.

Last weekend, we were showing friends around the city and were highly embarrassed at the state of the streets and buildings.

Seagull faeces splattered across all the beautiful buildings, both stonework and windows, not to mention the pavements covered in it. Weeds growing along the roads and pavement, general rubbish

and filth everywhere. The council should be ashamed of themselves in their neglect of a city that we have entrusted to their care.

I appreciate that seagulls are protected but what about the proven health risk they impose to residents and visitors alike?

Surely, a compromise of some sort can be reached with the conservationists.

Meanwhile, things would be greatly improved by simply cleaning and tidying up the streets.

How much filthier does the city of Bath have to get before something is done about it?
